Portraits 1955-1995,
Yorkton Studios,
2nd October – 19th October 2025,

Yorkton Studios, Pearson Lloyd, 1-3 Yorkton Street, London E2 8NH.

Wonderland is an exhibition that brings together some of the finest portrait work made in camera and in the darkroom over a 40-year period.

The aim is to showcase the artistry, and highly tuned skill sets of photographers who were working with film and wet chemistry in the darkroom.

Highlighting the technical and creative aspects of the medium in the production of the photographic print before the age of digitisation.

Wonderland will be an opportunity to view rare and original prints from private collections and photographers’ archives with a vast range of sitters, styles and processes, including platinum prints, photogravures, giant polaroids, chlorobromide silver gelatine prints, C41 and Cibachromes.

The portraits range from the iconic, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Chet Baker and Jean Shrimpton, through to the infamous and the anonymous. Some are household names, some unfamiliar – the common denominator being the extraordinary craftsmanship of portraiture in the pre digital photographic print.

Photographers include:
