In Conversation with Sandra Lousada & Mike Trow

Sandra Lousada has an active career in photography that has spanned six decades , in which she has excelled in many different genres. Her much-published fashion and portrait work graced the pages of Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and many other illustrious magazines . She included among her close her friends, Celia Hammond, Jean Shrimpton and the iconic fashionistas of the era. Literally working ( and dancing to vibrant sixties music as they worked), in the next studio to Bailey and Terence Donovan, her work exudes 60’s style, glamour and energy.
Being the daughter of a mother closely involved with theatre, Sandra’s ability to make close up and informative portraits of the greatest actors added to her portfolio, also enhanced by her knowledge of the art world and many friends amongst artists and architects. Sandra Lousada may not be as well-known as her contemporaries but her work in Wonderland indicates her ability and talent equal to or exceeding any of them.
Still engaged with and immersed in photography, her archive is a fascinating insight into how she continues to work and look, whether with people or places, making her photographic observations as fresh and original as ever.
